302 to 351w swap

I have a 1980 mustang, I blew up the 302 in it and I found a really nice 351W for it. I know its 3 inches taller and 2 inches wider than a 302, so I was wondering if I would have to change anything? Also i was wondering if anyone knows what cars used the dual sump 351W oil pan. and last will i still be able to use the headers from m 302?

302 to 351w swap

gunslinger8200:

The 351W will bolt right to you existing motor mounts and trans. 302 headers while you can physically get them to bolt up in some cases...are to short....meaning they will pull the H pipe against the bottom of the floor. Ive seen some guys do it but I would recommend against it. Ford did use the 351W as an option in the in the late 70's fairmount/Zepher wagon...which is a fox chassis. I believe it is the same pan that FRPP sells as the 351W fox chassis swap pan. The alt and its bracket will bolt up stock(its mounts on the cyl head). But on the power steering/AC side you need a swap bracket. FRPP sells this also. THe bad part is this bracket only work with 85 and newer power steering brackets(or power steering/AC combo brackets). They make on for AC cars and one for non AC cars. Then you just play with belt sizes till you find the right length. Depending on induction combo used hood clearance is an issue.

I'm pretty sure an oil pan off a 80s and up pickup will work and are easier to find.
