Ls6 and mod motor

I was talking to my friend who has a corvette and he made some good points about the newer chevy engines compared to the 4.6 ford. He said that the emissions are not drastically improved, the ls6 is smaller, lighter, and has more hp/torque potential, NA and blown. I didnt know what to say seeing that I dont know squat about the mod motors.

Ls6 and mod motor

The 3.55" bore on the mod motors ruins it for 2-valve high horse configurations. Not enough space for two large valves. Chevy is able to get good mileage and power since their compression is nearly a point higher. Although, It comes at a cost. There is a knock sensor on every cylinder and you have to run 91 or higher octane gas.

Ford has a three-valve per cylinder single overhead cam head which will debute this year in their larger sport utility vehicles. Hopefully it will be available in the Mustang. It should serve as a good upgrade for existing 1996 - 2003 Mustang Gts. I do not believe the 4 valve cobra heads are compatible with the current GT iron blocks.

I do know that over 100hp can be had with a 4v mod engine. There is no comparison between a overhead cam engine and a old pushrod engine. Overhead cam engine have way more potential when everything else is equal. 281ci is small but can get the job done against the larger ls1,ls6.
