Custom Grill

Anyone ever make a custom grill? Like the tube style you see on alot of 50's and 60's customs? For example, the 59' Buick in the newest HR magazine. I'd like to make one like that for my Galaxie. I want to leave the headlights where they are, remove the grill and headlight doors, and make up a grill with horizontal tubes. Anyone ever make one like that? Doesn't seem that difficult. I already found a good spot to mount brackets.
Got some questions.
What should I use? Stainless tubing? Where can I get stainless tubing? Is it easy to cut? How could I mount the tubes to the bracket without welding?
BTW- that buick is gorgeous, huh? I had a 61 LeSabre, so I got a place in my heart for those.

Custom Grill

Is that the Dec. issue? Havent gotten it yet. I think to make a tube type grill, your gonna need to weld. Another idea is to use door handles or pulls from the local hardware store. Just go in and look. Bolt them to some sort of mesh, or expanded metal that you can paint black. That will make a cool floating grill.

Custom Grill

I am doing a "Custom" Billet Grill for my 55 F100 project. I found a source for the materials and have them in hand.

This place simply cut them oversize based on my dimensions and arched the material to my specifications to fit the curve of the front of the old "effie".

I will now have to assemble the strips and customize the installation.

Now for the less than helpful part

I'm not far enough into it to have any info on how I will proceed from here ... I could give you the name of the source of my materials though if this is of any interest to you
