based on what blue streek said about his solid roller cam being noisey,in comparison to a solid flat tappet cam, how much noisier is a solid roller??

A solid roller cam has a more radical profile to open and close the valves faster and harder and also they require stronger springs. All of it working together makes for about a 20% increase in engine noise. It's not really a loud ticking noise like loose hydraulic rockers, it's more like the loud hum of a turbo diesel.

I don't know about that. My rollers are a lot quieter than my flat tappets. Now, a Chevy... that's noisy!

What is your valvetrain setup? Mine has alum heads, 7/16 studs, screw-in guides, and Angus 1.6 alum. rockers and alum. valve covers. Maybe all the alum. makes it more noisy.

Aluminum Blue Thunder heads, 1.8 rockers, fab valve covers. That might be part of it. Does your car have mufflers? Mine just has 4" bullets so it's a little loud.

4" bullets! You might not know you're missing a couple of valves until you see the holes in the hood.

Yep.. A full 2.5" exhaust system would definatley allow you hear your valve train better than 4" BULLETS!

Believe me... mid 1.20 short times, you'll know when it drops a valve You'd be suprised how quiet this thing is, being low doesn't hurt. Problem is, if I used a 2 1/2" exhaust I couldn't run in the 8's(quarter mile) anymore!
