how would you build your 347 for a drag only motor
Man. that's one light maverick! Seriously, though, Chilly's on the right track. It will take a lot of cam, lot of compression, and big carb/intake. With a stock maverick front chassis...you're pretty much limited to a 1 5/8 or 1 3/4" header primary size. I'm running the same basic car, a gutted '75 model, ran a 393w all year til it let loose. Best was a 6.58/110 in the 1/8, 1.39 60' (footbrake). Car weighs 2700 lb w/ 160 lb driver. Working on a stock-stroke "W" for this year. I think a 347 would be great for a mav, but you'll have to figure out a way to get all that power to the ground! Luckily, a mav's chassis is pretty solid and the rear suspension works pretty darn nice for a factory setup!
