valves?

I have a 87 roller motor 5.0 with stud mount roller rockers and when I had the heads off last I noticed chips/ nicks in the stems of some of the valves. any ideas on what causes this and is it something to worry about. I don't seem to have any problems right now engine is running strong I have harland sharp rockers which I have been told are noisey and they are. Rockers sound as if they are too loose no matter how tight they are. Just trying to prevent future damage to anything. Thanks

Well I don't think the chips from valve stems are doing the motor any good. If you are running a HP cam and spring I would up-grade the valves. Better yet replace them anyways.

My two cents.
