Big bore "W" block Windsor

Now that I've seen the difference in flow caused by shrouding I'm wondering about a "W" block Windsor as mentioned by Chilly460.

I also talked to the guy at http://www.fordpowertrain.com about his Windsor. He runs "N" sportsman heads, 4.125" bore, destroked so that he makes 356 cubes. He *only* made 540+ RWHP in his car.

Dang...

Ok --- the question. Can you survive on the street with a siamese cylinder block such as the W? Anyone on this forum running the "W" block?

Valve shrouding is always a problem with valves larger than 1.94. Ford knew it even back in the 60's when they decided to notch the cylinder bores on the Clevelands and the early Pro-Stockers even chose to take a chance and bore them to .090 over for the extra space!! Now you know why I chose the Twisted Wedge heads over the Ford pattern.

bluestreak -- I love your signature line.

How does your combo run? ETs? RWHP? FWHP?

It really is too much for the street!! The BFG Drag radials kept the old 320 HP 289 in line after 1st gear, but the 331 can tear them loose at the touch of the throttle in all 4 gears! I haven't had the chance to try it at the track but it feels like 11's for sure. You guys putting fire-breathing strokers in little street mustangs should be careful or you just might get more than you bargained for.
