How hard is a front disc conversion and what years of what cars can you use?

Well, in my dads 68 Mustang that he just got, the front brakes are pretty much shot and I wouldnt mind putting discs on my Fairlane, so what years of what cars can you use? And how hard is it to do?

The granada swap is very popular. I did i in about 8 hours. Do a web search for granada brake swap and youll get a bunch of sites going over how to do it. I used '78 granada discs, but '75-'80 merc monarchs, and maverick brakes will work too. One f thebest things I did with my '68.

This is fairly easy. I did it to my comet and the hardest part was getting the steering linkage to work. The disc spindles require different tie rod ends and you cant just swap the whole steering linkage. Well, actually you can...but it almost doubles the time it takes to make the whole swap. Trust me I know.

As everyone mentioned, this is an easy task and drasticly improves the braking performance. You may need to do a bit of shopping to connect the original steering with the conversion parts..Dave.

There's a link on our web site about our conversions. See if that helps.

One thing to watch with the Granada swap is the hub is bigger in the center so your stock wheels will not fit (centre hole is too small).I used a disc setup off of a 69 cougar. If your running aftermarket wheels this isn't a concern and the granada discs are a little bigger I think.

Other Ford/Merc's will fot as well. Mid size cars that share the same suspension as the 'Stang. Are you looking for a set?

Yes, I do need a set, two sets if it will work just as good on my Fairlane.

I have a '71 Montego withpower front discs. Rotors are shot (used them on a project car).
PM me & we can work something out as I'm junking it as soon as I do some spring relocation experiments.
