Road Demon Jr.
Im thinking about the 525 cfm road demon jr. from my 289, Should I bee impressed by the following specs? Also what is "Max Density" and how does it compare to billit carbs? Its either this or a 600 cfm edelbrock (hard to tune from what I hear) and for the extra 50 bucks if the demon is better ill gladly pay it.
Barry Grants website says the following:
Road Demon Jr
This is the perfect replacement carburetor for entry level, general performance cars and light trucks. The Road Demon Jr. is offered in three sizes for these engines and cam profiles:

625 cfm – 302-400 cid, less than 220 degrees @ 0.050”
725 cfm – 350-500 cid, less than 220 degrees @ 0.050”
These are engines having smooth idling characteristics.
Features:
• Max-Density rib-reinforced cast baseplate
• Max-Density cast metering blocks
• Vacuum Secondary operation
• Patented air entry design
• Concentric Venturii

The Demon is the better choice. The Edlebrock is pretty easy to tune, but the 525 fits a 289's needs better.

MAX Density? Meaning? Heavy metal...Hopefully they are using the stronger
Concentric Venturies? All venturies are concentric
Patent air-design? HP Holleys have the exact same curves, minus 1-2 degrees of an angle
Compatiability of components? That's correct and only for the items listed.
All Holleys now come with Blow-out protection standard!
2-corner idle? That's all you need for that motor. Good option. 4-corner is best but not needed with that camshaft
Clear veiw sights? They often break easily, ensure you get the metal ones also when they do. I know! I have had to choke up many of them to my customers because of breakage. Now its policy to send out metal ones as well. They only cost about $1.50
Other than that its a great looking carburetor, just don't get drawn into all the hi-po parts jargin! The ad looks a little over-glorified, but hell Barry Grant makes money...
Just my 0.02

I myself have been wondering how good the lower end Demon carbs are.
I've been trying to decide if I want one of those or a Holley, and I'm looking to spend ~$300.
That spec list shows the carbs as being up to 220 lift, and my new cam will be a 224/236.
Maybe that TPC guy can recommend me something

I could set you up with a 650 Double pumper.... A Stage 3 650 #4777 Double pumper would run you $450.00 or you can go beyond streetability and get the 750 w/Annular boosters $475.00
-Modified/cut boosters
-Nitrophyl floats
-Jet extensions
-Full blueprint
-Custom calibrated metering blocks
-4 corner idle
-Aeroquip fuel fittings
Just to name a few...
This is completely customized to your motor/cam profile. Color choices are free of charge. TPC Racing is very well known for the attention to detail in show quality set-ups. So if it's more show than go your after, why not have both!
Hands down our 650's are unbeatable. If and when your interested in something we offer, feel free to contact us Toll Free (877)872-2272

In some adds I saw that they showed a cut through of a Holley carb and one of theirs. The Holley had a lot of air pockets in the casting and the Demon didn't. I think that's what they mean with max density. I bet they used the worst example Holley they could find though.

Thanks Helmantel, but what is billit casting then and how much better is it than max density? What are the holleys, e-brocks, and autolites cast as?
Once again thanks,
