Mustang Clutch choice?

Ok, well I just dumped $2.2k into the F-350, LUK Clutch, Master/Slave cylinders, 4 new U-joints, carrier bearing, braided brake lines, WARN Premium Hubs, new calipers, brake job, Energy Suspension body mounts (Mistake!!! Rides way to rough) etc... Wheeewww

Now that I have had my Xmas gift, now I need to buy for the Misses! I am getting her a new clutch for the Stang. She has a 97 GT that has been completely done up with a Sports suspension, 17" Polished Wheels 17X10.5 Rear (custom back-spaced) 315/35's and 17X8 Front 255/40's. Welded sub-frames, white face gauges, Cherry red paint....Hahaa...she loved this thing more than me!

So I need to know opinions on Clutches, good and bad, pros and cons? Centerforce? and Why? Please be objective...

~Ty

Mustang Clutch choice?

TCP, I have used only FMS clutches for all my late model 5.0 cars.
1-Price, inexpensive compared to other aftermarket stuff
2-Its FMS, you know it will work. No question to tech lines, no break in period. All the right stuff in all 3 of my cases.

I have used both the 10.5" replacement clutch package twice and the King Cobra unit which I currently run in my 65 behind a carbed 89 5.0 with 5 speed. Both have withstood the test of time in my case and the King Cobra unit is currenly working great in my car, which is running about 330hp at the tires, dont know if that matters, but it is holding up great.

Nope! Just a brother...who isn't even a gearhead.

She waxes her own car, polishes her own wheels, and buys more crap out of my suppliers catalogs than I do. Everytime I come home she has some new gadget for the car. Of course she won't install ****, but she has some sick fantasy about watching me work on her car....I thought it was suppose to be the other way around.

I sold her the car so I could keep it in the family

So then she ditched the cavalier or something like that....and bought mine. So now I sit here wondering how X amount of dollars just got spent at Summit Racing...hmmmm ....is it a gift for me? or is it another damn part for her car?

UPS will only know....

Does your wife paints parts or clean nasty engine parts? If she does you know she's a keeper like my significant other.

Seriously, I second what Nastystang says about FMS clutches, they work and you won't have problems with them. I ran one in my 89 Mustang with a J302 head equipped 351W EFI engine that I had built for it. My engine made around 400hp and a ton of torque (gotta love those long intake runners on the GT40 manifolds) and my clutch had no problems handling the output of my 351W.

I've heard some people had good luck with centerforce and some had bad luck, and we won't even get into centerforce for the GM crowd, that clutch just doesn't work with Camaro/Firebird cars like mine.

Stick with what works, the FMS clutch will get the job done.
