driveshaft loop placement

i'm finally about ready to get the car to the track. where does the driveshaft loop need to be placed? i've heard 6" from the tailshaft and 6" from the yoke. thanks guys(and gals[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] )

driveshaft loop placement

I placed mine just aft of the tail shaft..6 inches yep. That way you can still have access to the rear joint. The big issue here is the suspension travel and the drive shaft breakage.
One you don't want the rear suspension travel to be limited and two you don't want your pony to do a pole vault.

driveshaft loop placement

The loop must be placed within 6 inches on the FRONT universal joint. NOT the rear. The idea is to keep the car from poll vaulting if the front universal breaks and the drive shaft is driven into the ground.

yes i know it needs to go at the front[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif[/img]. i just needed to know if it was measured from the tailshaft or the u-joint. thanks for the replies.

IHRA rule book: ...360 deg retainer loop, 1/4" minimum thickness, 2" wide, securely mounted and located within 6" of the front universal joint...

I'm fixing to install one in the next day or so.

I mention suspension travel because i know someone who did intall it in the rear. Sorry got my words turned around. Let's just say he also complained that his air shocks travel was limited due to the installation.
