ignition problems... I think

Does anyone know what the voltage to the coil on a duraspark ignition is supposed to be? My car isn't running and my voltage is only 5v to the coil. This just doesn't seem right to me.

What controls what the voltage tot he coil is? The module?

don't know exactly (haven't dealt with that system) but shouldn't it be at least 9v? Do you have to run a ballast resistor with it?

It's the electronic ignition system ford used from '77 - '85 so I don't think it uses one.

I got a reply on the corral that sais there is a .5ohm resistor behind the dash that might be the problem but he wasn't positive either.

All I know is that I don't seem to have enough voltage to make a spark and I'm not sure why.

I have an extra module and coil that I swapped in which did nothing to help, but they were used and I don't know the condition of them. I bought new ones yesterday which I'll try today. If it still won't start I'm at a total loss...

Turn your total loss into a MSD ignition I've got one on my 302 and am real impressed with it
