Ignition Wiring

Someone correct me if I am wrong. I am in a bit of a discussion with my Tach manufacturer on what this problem might be. Well they want you to connect the positive to the ignition. I did that except intstead of under the dash I did it at the resisor on the side that the ignition wire runs too.
Is there any difference, because he is telling me I am getting resistance there.
I can understand that if it was the side that runs out to the coil but it is not.

If you are hooking it up before the resistor it's OK.
