I use dual O2 sensors - one in each collector and a $49 Autometer F/A gauge.

O2 sensors $35 ea. Switch $3. Best investment I ever made.

Well...except for the nitrous system...

I shopped for a while at the local Autozone. What I bought were *heated* O2 sensors. There a number of apps that are the same but have different plugs on them.

You want a 3 wire sensor: Ford pass car or truck is a good example. Pick the sensor and check it out.

The heateds are much more sensistive when idling.

I had the muffler shop weld in the bungs. $5 each installed. A common sparkplug - 18mm - will plug these until you get the sensors installed.

You will need to provide +12V across the two white wires when the engine is running. I used a relay that comes on when the key is turned. One wire to gnd. The other to the relay which has one switch terminal tied to +12V. I can send you a diagram if needed.

i have used a msd monitor for quite a while and havent been impresseed with it -- first one would not read to the last 1/3 of the scale -- the next one did at first but now it wont either -- tried different o2 sensors too ---- best part of the monitor is it is really responsive - easy to diagnose a rich or lean hesitation in an instant--really would like to have the wiring diagram for the heated sensor -- or just an explanation of which wire is which --

The best O2 sensor to use is a 4-wire.

You have:
+12 and ground for the heater(2 wires)
0-1 volt signal (1 wire)
Sensor Ground (1 wire)

The extra ground wire makes up for the resistance to ground from the battery to the O2 sensor. Its not much resistance, but you're only talking a 0-1 volt signal. Usually you'll be around .7-.8 volts naturally aspirated. That may be a little rich yet. The ground at the sensor is VERY important for acurate readings.

These were used in many vehicles. One that comes to mind is '90 and newer Dodge Shadow with a 2.2/2.5 liter.

Summit sells a reasonably priced guage.
