x-celerator 2v on 4v heads?

Has anyone tried this combo, does it work or have sealing problems. I'm getting some aussie heads, but want to run this on my 4v open heads until I get the bottom end done.

Ain't gonna cut it. The ports are too tall on a 4V head. The opposite will work.

x-celerator 2v on 4v heads?

It might actually work.

I ported a set of Aussie heads for a guy who was using a Weiand Accelerator 2V intake. The outlets on the Accelerator's intake ports were SIGNIFICANTLY larger than than the stock ports in the heads! I had to grind the sh*t out of the heads to get them to match that intake! Yes, it was the right part number, and I didn't open it's port openings at all. They were large enough already.

However, I did weld in some runner extensions into the four corners of the plenum area.

Those 2V cleveland heads are some funky beasts. I did quite a bit of widening to the intake runner's port floor right before the short turn radius, and spent plenty of time on the exhaust ports. The combustion chambers needed some MAJOR unshrouding as well.

p.s. There was a guy with a Boss 302 in a maverick at the track several years ago that used an old Track Boss 302 intake (for 2V 351C heads) on his engine. (Boss 302's have 4V port size) It worked fine. With plenty of nitrous, it ran 6.20's on a set of old M&H street slicks.

Good Luck!

Sounds like it is at least worth a shot to pull the intake and see if it would fit. I would hope it does, because this performer 4v basically sucks. Its basically identical to the D1ZX aluminium one I had before I got it. If it fits it definately will show some more power, as right now my power band starts at about 2.5-3k and then shortly ends at about 4-4.5k. Im hoping to definately fix that with my new build, which is why I'm getting the x-celerator in the first place, but until then maybe it will give me a bit more on my current.

An Xcelerator 2V with 2V heads is a good combo. The Xcelerator has the same port opening as the Felpro 2V gaskets and standard 2V (D1xx) heads need a bit of opening up to match. The 4V version is a poor performer. The Torker and Street Dominator for the 4V might be a better choice. Just slapping on a 2V intake is not "it". The smaller passage 4V intakes are engineered to place the flow in the port where it needs to be. Using a 2V intake is just pot luck. It may work adequately - or it may not. See here for some recommendations:

I am getting the x-celerator 2v for 2v heads, but in the mean time (3-9 months). I was gonna try it on the 4v heads and see what it gets me. If they wont even get close to sealing, why try? But if it will seal, why not see what it does, just was wanting to know if anyone had tried it and it was horrible at sealing and whatnot. It only takes 30min-1hr to swap an intake, experimentation can be fun

True. Use some good 2V gaskets, like the Felpro Blue and go for it. The bolt surfaces are teh same.

He'll probably need 4V gaskets. The sealing rings on the 2V gaskets will be inside the port area, an won't seal.
