shorty headers in a '68 Mustang

Help me out here guys!!

A friend of mine is rebuilding the 302 in his '68 GT convertible. It's just a mild rebuild, using the factory 4V intake and carb for now, with a mild hydraulic cam. My question is, does anyone have any experience with shorty headers (or full length headers) in this application? The car has power steering, brakes, and it is a 4-speed. Who makes shorty headers for this application? Something coated would be nice, and fit well enough that they don't need to be "massaged".

Thanks for any info!!
Pat

I have put in a 351 Cleveland in my 68 coupe. It has full length headers on it, with no massaging. I would tell you what they are but they are swap meet specials. Getting some full length headers to fit on a 302 should not be a problem. If it is going to be a street car and are looking for a little bit more torque, I would probally try to get some tri-y headers for it. I do not know of anyone specifically for them, but you should be able to find some by looking around. As for coatings, I would test fit them on the car, then send them out for treatment. I hear that HPC is a good company, there is another post about HPC you might want to find it. Good Luck.
