drag race alternator drive

For years I ran a small stock crank pulley and a Moroso alt pulley. The crank pulley was 6 1/4" diameter. I have a single groove one and also had a double groove one on the car when I sold it. I have seen then on late 60's 302's (3 bolt) and early 70's 302's (4 bolt). If you have a 4 bolt damper it's pretty easy to re-drill a 3 bolt to fit. Currently have a single groove 4 bolt and double groove 3 bolt that's been re-drilled for a 4 bolt.

I used to throw belts all the time until I found the 4" Moroso crank pullley at a swap meet and I also got a belt that was not quite as wide, so it sat down inthe groove completely. Paid $10 for it, but I think they are ~$30 new. With this setup and a 1 wire alt conversion it would start charging at ~900 rpm and be at full voltage by 1500 or so.

Later,
David Cole
