Differential Gears

I am currently running a stock 8.8 with 265-60R15's tires. They are pretty tall compared to stock. I want to know if I could get away with running a 4.10 ratio? I annually drive about 200 miles to Phoenix to for leisure and to race at the Firebird track. Which gear would you run?

If you're running a 3-speed auto (not OD), you're gonna turn about 3150 rpm's at 60 mph. It's personal choice, but 3000+ rpm with loud mufflers gets a little old (to me) on a long trip. There are many, very many, that don't mind this noise at all[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
If you're running a T-5 or AOD, your rpm at 60 should only be about 2200 rpm. If that's the case, I'd go for the 4.10's.

If you are running a 5 speed or an AOD you wont be dissapointed, the 4:11`s are an awsume gear if you have the O.D. tranny to use them. I turn 2500rpm`s at 70 MPH with my T-5 and 4:11`s, using a 16x8" rim with 245x50x16 Nitto drag radials.
