428scj min. oil pressure.

What is the most common min oil presssure
a 428 has at an idle? new rebuild i have
only 20psi hot at an idle the engine is
a scj .060 over alum. heads and a solid lifter cam. bearing clearance is .0015
should this engine come apart to check

Need some more details. Type and weight of oil, hi-volume or regular pump. Engine temperature when the oil pressure is low.

Ford engineers used to say 6 psi at idle was minimum. But I have no written proof of this

you have more oil pressure at idle than I have had in all my FE pwered vehicles. My old truck had about 5

10 psi per 1000 rpm. The purpose of oil is to cool the bearing surfaces. At low rpm, little heat is being generated so your oil pressure is fine.
