Idle surge

Have you cleaned the carb.lately? According to the Holley book I have, it could be several things causing the surge. Idle Adjustment,Idle passages dirty,Metering Jets(Loose,Plugged),Float(Wrong setting),Throttle valves(Loose,Damaged,Sticking),Venturi Cluster(Dirty,Loose).I would start with the Idle adjustment.Hook a vacuum gauge to the intake manifold and check vacuum. My vacuum reading is usually around 19 in. of vacuum. If your vacuum reading is low, adjust the Idle mixture screws. First one side then the other.Adjust screws slowly..I hope this is helpful.
