Drag Race suspension for 73 mach 1

Okay, what rear suspension modifications do I make? Tell me the shocks, and leaf springs to get...it is going to the shop for it upon a few other things right as soon as I type this. The front Shocks will have to wait and I will end up doing those myself I think. Ohh yea, what traction bars should I have put on this thing? I will either have the sub frame connectors made, or if Tracy will help me out with 'em still, I will get in his way while he makes 'em for me So tell me guys

Slapper bars are cheaper than Cal-Tracs or the Comp Engineering Slide-link but not quite as tunable. Clamping the front of the leafs works pretty weel for real cheap. Adjustable drags shocks for the rear are aslo pretty cheap in the Summit book, but I'd run what you have first. You won't really know waht you need until you try to launch with slicks or drag radials. Street tires will pretty much fry regardless unless you slip the clutch.

If you're going to be welding anyway, I'd jump on the traction master under-riders. I couldn't believe the difference they made on the comet...Plus project 11.99 got 1.6 60ft times with em.

I have a 72 mach 1 that has the factory comp. suspension package with staggered rear shocks. Should I keep the rear shocks in the staggered configuration, or mount them non-staggered. Is it possible to add slapper bars and retain the staggered shock mounts? Thanks, Tom

I have a quick question. What are staggered shocks?

Staggered shocks - one shock (the passenger side) is in front of the axle to help resist axle torque that causes spring wrap up. I don't have it and never mised it because when I started wrapping the springs I installed traction bars immediately.

So are staggered shocks good to have?

Yep, gives more stability to the rear axle.
