anyone know the weight of a 79 merc zephyr 4-dr?

ok here's the deal. i picked up a 79 4-door merc zephyr(fairmont) for $100. perfect body(no rust dings or dents) and a real nice interior(factory buckets). the car has NO options except a heater, everything else is manual. it's a 4cyl/4 speed. i'm thinking of swaping my bigblock from the t-bird into it. anyone have any ideas on what this thing weighs? on the title it's 2580lbs vs. 3250 for the t-bird. i figure with the weight savings alone i could drop .3-.4 sec in the 1/4.

Title weight is pulled from the clouds I think. You're right - it SHOULD be light - except for the extra doors. Is there a truck stop anywhere close to where you live? Or a moving company? Anything with public scales. At the truck stop out here in Tye, it's $7 for a computer weight printout. Quick, painless, accurate. Then there's no guessing. You can also look in the yellow pages under Scales - Public.

My '79 Fairmont weighs 2900 lbs with me(I'm fat)[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] Engine is a cleveland. Your big block is probably 100lbs heavier. My interior is gutted, but I have a 8 point roll bar and frame ties. The front bumper shocks have been removed and the bumper remounted with light weight bracket.
Just something for you to judge by.
