Flange to Flange? measuring Diff?

Is this the part where the backing plate bolts to on the end of the housing? or is it the ends of the axles where the studs are?

Thanks,

what are you measuring, the width of the axle housing? If so, then yes you generally measure between the retaining plate flanges on the axle tube.

If you are measuring the length of an axle, then you measure from the the back of the stud flange to the end of the axle.

A buddy of mine put a rear out of a '59 ranchero under his '62. It was a bolt in. I've various sources all the way back to the sixties say that '57 to '59 Ford/Mercury/Edsel rears are a bolt in for early Falcons and Comets.

Thanks all,

Im picking up a 1980 granada 9". It looks to be a direct bolt in for my 65 comet, but i think its a just about a 1/2" total length longer?

Ed

1/2" is not much, that is only a 1/4" per side, if you have not got your wheels yet that can be compensated with backspace on the wheels.

Good luck

Thats what i figured. I have been trying to find one that was as close as possible to fit without the added expence of shortining and so forth. I'm on a strict budget....

Thanks,

Ed
