heater hose question

On my 347, I have one hose from the thermostat housing to the water pump, and another from the water pump to the heater control valve. Then 2 hoses from the heater control valve to the heater core. Then one from the heater core to the intake manifold.

Here's the question, can I run two hoses? One from the thermostat housing to the water pump, and the other from the water pump to the intake manifold? I am taking the heater out of my car. I've never used it, and living in Mesa, AZ, I don't plan on using it anytime soon. Will I have any overheating problems with it setup that way? Is the flow correct?

heater hose question

Rather than running the hose from the intake to the water pump, just plug them both off.

The bypass from the outlet side of the thermostat housing to the waterpump should be connected, this prevents suction from collapsing the upper radiator hose before the thermostat opens. But rather than bypass the heater curcuit, just block the flow. If you run a short length of hose between the intake and water pump, you'll be circulating hot water from behind the thermostat back into the water pump, bypassing the thermostat at all times. This could cause the temperature of the coolant to be unregulated and could cause the engine to run too hot or too cold, or both depending on the situation.
