70 mustang handling

I am about to purchase leaf springs, subframe connectors, and sway bars for my 1970 mustang coupe.

A boss302 has 155 rate leaf springs and i think my coupe has about 85. But the only 155 rate springs i can find are from eaton detriot springs and are 1" lowering springs.

I love the way mine sits now with 1" drop coils in front. I just want it to handle better. I was wondering what is the best way to go.

OPTION1-use 135 rate springs and kyb gasadjust on back

OPTION2-use 155 rate drop springs and use air shocks

I'd never use air shocks on anything but a Joe Dirt movie car. I'd pick the 135 springs and gas shocks. It's really related to the front rate. Personally, I'd talk to the Pro Motorsports folks and get their recommendation, but you'll see a big difference in stiffness between 85 and 135. I would suspect that it would throw off your stance, but I can't be sure.

It may be hard to match the ride height on the rear. The stock leafs have probably sagged, a mid-eye leaf may match the old leafs stance better then you think. I believe Cobra Automotive sells a 160lb leaf spring that will fit, as well as global West. I have 160lbs leafs on my 66' Coupe the ride ended up being softer the the Mustangs Plus 4 leafs I had on the car before. Stay away from the air shock!

I used the leafs from the link below. They're four leaf and 165 lb/inch. I really like them. Firm but not harsh and they look nice. Not that important, but sometimes I see springs that are just a bundle of cut off pieces of spring steel. These are tapered and have the plactic anti squeek pieces in between.
