decoding an axle code

i recently found a mercury monarch in a junkyard but not exactly sure which year. when i looked inside the drivers door at the data tag, i noticed the axle code was a B. i have a list of some of the older axle codes and most letters indicated a posi type rearend. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on this monarch rearend.
