V8 swap into a Comet

I've got a question for you fellas. What all is needed to put a small block V8 into a car that originally has a straight 6?

Here's what my dad and I are going to do. We're putting the original '68 302 that was in my '68 Galaxie into our '62 Comet, which currently has a 170ci engine. I reallize the early Comets had the V8 option, but were the motor mount holes changed over the years? If so, what motor mounts should I get? Also, if anyone's done this before what problems did you run into?

Ohhhhhh yeah! If anyone has some reverse light lenses for a '62 Comet, we need some! Just let me know, and how much you want for 'em.

Thanks

V8 swap into a Comet

Hello, my cousin did the swap putting a 289 into a 63 Comet. They swapped the motor mount brackets from a V8 car. The bracket bolted to the frame is different from the six. I believe there is also a piece that fastens the two together. The easiest would be to start hunting junkyards for a V8 Donor.
I think the pieces from a Mustang are different. The spindles are supposedly lighter, but the car has been together for nearly 10 years and hasn't had a problem.

V8 swap into a Comet

The piece's from a Mustang of the same year are compatable with your Comet, and if hard pressed you can use the V8 frame adapter's from a 72-73 Ford p/u. When installing a V8 in these car's an additional crossmember is required under the engine to give lateral support. This crossmember and also be found in the early V8 Mustang's

One minor thing, the 6cyl and v8 fuel pumps are in different locations. A v8 will require a longer fuel line that comes from the tank. Look for one out of a v8 donor car. Also check the location of the inlet and outlet ports of the radiator, the might be on the opposite ends.
