holly carb base

I have 780 Holly with cracked baseplate. Besides speadbores, will most Holly baseplates bolt on this carb?

The short answer is no. There are various bases that match to various bodies. Too small and you'll restrict flow. Too large and you'll prevent proper opening (in some cases).
There is a trick about putting an 850 base on a 750 carb to increase flow. Check Holley's technical page website and you can see the various sizes of throttle plates listed on that site.
