Weiand Stealth vs. Edelbrock Torker vs. Edelbrock Air-Gap

Ok, I've got a bunch of 302 intakes staring me in the face. I have a box stock Weiand 8020 Stealth and a Performer RPM Air Gap. Also have a Torker 289 that has been port matched to a 1250 and had the plenum cleaned up. Any predictions on which will work better on a 306 with lightly ported Dart Sr.'s, 10:1 comp, and a Comp 282HR roller cam(232/240@.050, .565/.572lift, 112lsa), 650 holley DP, 3.91 gears, 3000 stall conv. 28" tire, 69 Stang, about 3200lbs? I've got a killer valve train(titanium retainers and loosened solid roller springs) so the cam's powerband is supported. Tell me what do you all think of the combos and is that too much cam for the gearing/converter/car combo? Thanks a bunch!

they'll all be +/- 5HP. The torker may be worse.

Your best results will be selling a couple of those to fun a Victor Jr.

With a 3000 stall converter and existing camshaft, I'd say one of the dual planes would probably work the best at the track.

One thing... 302's, when cammed very hard want to spin up higher than where hydraulic rollers are 'comfortable'. That duration and lobe seperation in a 302 is likely going to want to spin around 6800 rpm with those big heads. I hope the hyd. roller is still keeping its lifters in touch with the cam at those engine speeds.

An 8" converter, slightly steeper gear and Victor Jr. intake would probably work best with that cam/heads. I definitely wouldn't install a cam that's any larger with the existing converter/gear/tire diameter. You'll probably be struggling with 60ft's the way it is.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback! I had similar thoughts on the cam vs. combo. I'm still thinking of just putting my old Wolverine 1087 back in it... I know what you mean as far as keeping the lifter on the cam(ate a hyd. roller not that long ago from valve float). That is why I've gone to a lot of trouble to get the spring pressure where it should be and still accomidate the lift. If my combo works I'm going to post it here. It's an off the shelf spring/retainer/lock combo that may just work the magic needed to make a hyd. roller rev. We'll see Thanks all!
