Casting numbers?

Does anybody have the codes to deciphering block casting numbers? I had the paperwork but i can't seem to find it and i want to see if a 302 block i have is worth keeping.

Seeing that it's 74 block i'm keeping it. I have a friend that is looking for a 302 but he's not getting this one.Thank's

that doesnt necessarily mean that it is a 74 block. D4 is the year that particular part started production. if the next code for the particular part is D8 then that means the D4 was made from 74-77.

Now this is funny i did a search on these numbers and according to this the 302 is out of a 74 falcon.
