Front Spindles ... for disc ... 69 Mustang

As you know we got the $31.00 special 69 coupe shell here last week.

Steve wants to go with front disc brake (his old coupe was drum).

Now the Question

What applications should he/we be looking at to pull correct spindles for his 69 coupe

I don't know for sure what will fit, but the '69 was a one year only spindle. In '70 they went to a larger spindle with larger bearings.

The spindle from a '70-'73 Mustang, Cougar, "69 -'71 Montego/Cyclone/Torino, just about anything with a shock tower including a Granada. The caliper is so common it's scary, just about all single piston calipers will work, even from a F-150. Might consider an aftermarket kit, she'll stop better 'Bout $520

What about tie rod ends? I thought the problem was hooking the spindles to the steering. Also you will/should need the master cylinder from the donor car as well as the brake pedal. At least that's what I've been told. Maybe someone can correct me! (Please do).

I just found out this morning ... I have a local buddy (Jim) that indicates he can supply me with all of the needed "under the fender" parts for $300.00, but no guarantee on the rotors or calipers since it would all be "take off" stuff he has aquired ...

Jim does nothing but buy and sell Ford Parts primarily rear ends and axles but obviously he runs into about anything and everything. He says he has three sets to chose from currently.

BTW ... Does anyone have the 69 casting numbers, so we could tell for sure what we are looking at?

The only problem is the Granada & you just use the Mustang tie rod. I just put a disc set-up on the wifes '65 F-100 & used a 70 truck MC, same as a million others, just remember the proportioning valve is different.

The disc brake spindle number is 3105 or 3106 for right or left respectfully. The prefix is the year C9 = 69, D0 = 70, there are different design groups and Revs. So C9AZ-3705-E for example is a 69 part, D2AA-3106-E would be a 72. That's from the L-M MPC. Couldn't find any listing in my Interchange Manual. Hope it helps.
