This is starting to p*ss me off.... Axle codes..

When I bought my '64 galaxie I called up Donahue to get all the parts books, manuals etc that I'd need. he sold me a '64 parts book, shop manual & a couple of other things. I ask him if there's anything else he can think of that I'd be needing. He
answers *no*

That brings me to now, I spent an hour last night trying to find the damn wheel bearing #'s in the manual & discover they ain't there. Today I call Donahue & get told that because the rear brakes are the same as a '63 the part #'s would be in the '63 parts book. Well thanks for telling me that when I was ordering books ...ARRGGHH!...
20 minutes ago I pull the tag off the Diff to find out what I have got back there. Guess what? thats not bloody listed either. So far this '64 parts book is about as much frigging use as a chocolate radiator.

So what the hell is:
WBS-BN2
3.00 3KE 105

I can figure out that 3.00 is the ratio & WBS is the model, BN2 is the model suffice, 3KE is the date & 105 is the plant code, but have no way to decode it. WTF have I got here?

Take the tag to a Ford dealer parts dept. and they should be able to decode it and give you OEM part numbers. Try to find an older, long-time-in-one-place dealership that will more likely still have older books as well as an older partsman that can read the books. Allan

Are you going to rebuild it or just want to know? If rebuilding it, just pull the thing apart. Ford didn't use to many sizes of bearings and they're all over the place in parts stores. On both axles and carries.

I found the problem.... The "Complete '64 Ford Parts Book" that Donahue sold me is a full inch thinner than the book they have at the local Ford dealer...
