Flywheel modification

Has anybody modifies a 50 oz balanced flywheel to become a 28 oz flywheel. I cannot find a 28 oz one down here, and nobody seems to know exactly what to do to the 50 oz for it to match my engine balancing factor. Any specs, procedure, tips, or ideas will be welcome.

one word...JEGS theyre a large mail-order warehouse for performance parts here in the U.S. 1-800-345-4545. you need to know several things when you call: number of teeth (157 or 164) and clutch size (10,10.5, or 11) and stock or performance part. hope that helps.

If you have a FMS unit, I think you can unbolt the counterweight, and bolt on a different one.

Flywheel modification

I did, works perfect. About 5 years back I converted from an old style 3 finger clutch to motorsport heavy duty diaphram style. The new presure plate required 3 alignment dowels that the newer style flywheels have but my old style flywheel did not have. Local machine shop modified a 50oz flywheel to 28 oz in about an hour while I waited. Smooth as silk.

The import option is a bit expensive since the flywheel is so darn heavy. I want to go for the machine shop option, but the three machine shops that I have gone to do not know how much material they would have to remove, or if they need to remove it all, and then weld a new counterweight. If anybody has the 157 tooth, 28 oz flywheel specs, I would sure appreciate it.
