Cal-Custom 289/302 oil pan-who\'s using one?
Thanks for the feedback guys.
My 331 was built up from a bare block. To make a long story short, I ended up with two oil dip sticks. And to complicate matters, the early 289/302 engines had at least two different length dip stick tubes. The timing cover I'm using now didn't have a tube when I got it. Tube came from a swap meet along with one of the sticks. Don't remember which one.
I kept this pan from my old engine. On the old engine it took 6 quarts at the oil change to get oil to the full mark on THAT particular stick/tube combination. I now have the measurements of the stick and tube from my old engine. That engine now has a stock replacement pan on it. Unfortuneatly, the current owner is out of town and I can't get an immediate answer to how much oil HE put in it. I emailed him and expect a reply shortly.
Bottom line is; I'm either even or one quart over!
