B&M Blower...for what?

A local speed shop has a used blower sitting in a shed out back. I was told came off a ford motor of sometype.

It's a B&M and it has P4965 on the bottom base.
I did not see an intake to go with it.

It looks like a fuel injected setup or something.
Can I use this blower on a carbed 302?
Can I change the top plate to work?
Where can i find the bottom intake to sit blower on?

If anyone has any info on this blower(or knows who would) ...could you help me out?

Thanks,
Allan

B&M Blower...for what?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, B&M sold them about 15 years ago. The charger was designed for street use. It wasn't a bad unit but it won't fit under a stock hood nor will you get the same HP from it as you would a turbo or cetrifical units sold today. It was basically a budget supercharger.

It could haave a fuel injection unit on it as you said. B&M sold them as well. From magazine articles of the time, I recall that it wasn't all that smooth in operation. The supercharger was designed for a carburator and should have the flange to mount the carb cast into the supercharger.

I wouldn't pend a lot of money on it. But if you can get it cheap and don't mind trashing your hood...go ahead and use it if it's in good shape. They used teflon to seal the rotors. Beware the teflon could be worn though and resulting in not much boost.

B&M Blower...for what?

B&M had quite a line up of low profile blower intakes (302, 351W, 351C) for those mini-blowers. If memory serves me, they came in 144 cubic inch displacement and 162 inch for the more powerful ones. I drooled over those for along time back in the 80's but the cost at the time was around $1500 to $2000 and I couldn't swing it.

At some point Holley bought B&M's line of blowers and also Weiand's which had a very similar belt driven mini-blower.

You might check the Holley brands website or contact their tech to see if any parts or the teflon seals are available.

I still see 3 or 4 of these blowers over a summer season at the various shows.

I looked into those about a year ago (New Ones) and for the money, you could get a 671 for the same money or pretty close too from BDS or Mooneyham. I use to know a guy that had one on his Cheebby P/U and sounded cool but not a alot of power. But it did have the COOL going for it.

The cool thing about the B&M blower for small block Fords was that it had a special offset drive on it to fit around the stock distributor. This blower is now offered through Holley. They are occasionally shown in the Summit catalog. B&M also offered a low profile air cleaner, they called "Hi-Tek" for this set up. They also offered an adapter that mounted 2 Weber side-draft carbs for the ultimate in hood clearance. I have dreamt of sliding one of these on the 289 under the T-bolt hood (yet to be installed) on my Fairlane.
