v8 Ranger Swap

i did a v8 swap in my ranger.didn't use a kit though it may have been easier if i had.Ranger power sports has some good information on their site.i'll be glad to answer questions as they arise.I would recommend you round up a set of explorer headers from Ford motorsports. they have been obseleted by ford but are worth the effort to locate a set because they fit well. It's really not that hard a swap.I have a notebook from my swap so i can provide answers to some of the problems you will have, and the things i would do differently this time around

I used L&L's motor mounts and ford racing "special" 1 3/4" shorter serpentine reverse water pump/timming cover "kit" to help with radiator/fan space....still no room though.

Also used the ford racing 351w "fox" body oil pan "kit".

v8 Ranger Swap

I found a place called the ranger station it's a web site I don't know the address but if you look that up you will find it and they have all the info you want. The have sections for those swaps and lowering, lifting pretty much anything to do with rangers. Hope this helps

"motorhead" on this board did one. He used some swap parts from James Duff and FMS.

try-y headers for 65-66 mustang work and they are fairly cheap - some of the kits use them and just repackage them and charge you extra for it -- i used the trans dapt mounts - next time ill build them - 1"x3"-4" rectangle tubing with a few holes drilled in them - the holes didnt line up at all --- $10.00 should buy the material for them - would take about 1 hour to build the pair --- fold the lip back at the tans tunnel to firwall area with a big hammer --- late big v6 radiator should cool it - i used big bellhousig c-4 in mine - fits but tight -- would used small housing or tremec next time---i used 83-93 mustang acessory system - with functional air -- will have to trim a/c box --

mine is a 83/4X4 and was a 2.3and now houses a 69/302 with a T-18 4spd with a 205 hooked to it and NO BODY LIFT.I used the 4cyl motor mounts with a adapter plate,a later style(outside frame mount)rear cross member(83 is inside),these parts came from a 79/80 LTD/302
fuel pump
throtle cable
water pump
power steering/alt bracket
harmonic balancer and pullys(serp.setup)
power steering hose(preasure).
the exhaust manifolds and Y pipe are from the 69 van(single at the moment).Front drive shaft is from a AMC EAGLE(bolt in).Rear one is the stock one shortened with a 9in.
Bellhousing is out of a 83 F150(hyd clutch). The radiator is from a 6cyl Eagle(cause i had one).I also had a 75 Bronco Dana 44 straight front axel in(for sale).I can post pic if needed. Also need a oil filter relocation kit
