1973 mach 1

I have an opportunity to buy a 1973 mach 1. It has 63,000 original miles. It is a numbers matching car. The body is in good shape with no rust, but will definately need paint. Interior is in poor shape. The price is $1000. The car runs but i dont know how good. I mighti try to offer $800, is this car worth it? Thanks in advance!

I think it would be especially since I'm in the middle of my project '73. I paid $600 for mine, engine & trans out & not the greatest of condition.

I second that...you need to pounce on it, or share the wealth with me!

I'd go for it. Make sure its complete, cuz some of the trim pieces can be hard to find. Not much in the way of reproduction parts for the 71-73, but what ya cant find re-pro'd, can prolly find on Ebay.

Well, I did pounce on it and picked it up for $950. Thanks for the input! It has 2.79 gears though, i had punched in the wrong number on the decoder. It is going to be a daily driver for my wife. She does however want it to have some get up and go. Should i leave the stock 2v or put and aluminum intake on and a 4v? At present the car runs great and starts without a problem. It has 63,998 original miles. All responses welcome.

If it runs good, leave it be for now, and throw some gears in it.

In Massachusetts in the heart of the rust belt that car would go for twice the price. Not sure what the going rates are in TX.

I'll have some 351 Cleveland parts on Ebay later this week...all 4v stuff...2 intakes, possibly hooker super comps, and a C6 street fighter converter...

One more question. The vin number shows this car to be a mach 1, sportsroof. I have been told though, that all mach ones came with four barrels. Is that true? Could my car be a mach 1 with a 2 barrel carb? How do i go about finding out if it is a numbers matching car? Thanks again for the help!
