Cast Iron Cam Gear

At what point would you jump to full steel roller timing set? Ford motorsport has two, one with the cast cam gear and the other steel.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would use the roller for a rebuild or repair / replacement as standard practice regardless of the engine's purpose or performance. Just doesn't seem like the place to save a few bucks on something less.

As for cast vs. steel sprockets, you'd have to interpret the phrase "maximum competition engines" in the Ford Racing catalog. I think it would be a dedicated race engine before that is an issue.
