Big Block Build-up

lucky to run 11's with that?
Dont listen to "some people" With everthing asembled and working working right you will run way into the 11's unless your racing at 6000 ft and its 100 degress out.

Keep the forum informed please I would love to build a big block for the 81 I have.

My car is more than a boat, it's a land yacht! At the drags they call it the U boat! '70 Cyclone Spoiler 429 SCJ Super Drag Pak, all stock except headers, carb, & slicks. I loved it when everyone told me I couldn't get into the 9's without #20 of nitrous Ran 9.20's on an easy day My problems with the 385 forum were 2 years ago. I still have contact with Scott & some of my flow #'s are at his site. I enjoyed my time there but these guys here are a lot easier on my when I jump on my soap box & let it rip

Land yacht! ROFLMAO

Seriously that is a sweet car! Someday I want to get a big car like that, I like the Torinos.

May car will be ugly but it should run like a scalded dog. I was originally planning on doing some street racing with it but since I started the project three years ago they have cracked down on street racing so much I don't know if I want to risk it. Plus its not exactly stealthy with a 5" cowl. LOL

The 385 Forum seems to be a little friendlier now. I do like this forum as well its just been a while since I've visited, I've been kinda focused on the big block for some time now.

Was the 9 run on juice or is that all motor?

U-boat I'm still laughin' My friends all say my car is gonna be a boat at 3300 lbs. hahaha

Qtrhors,

Thanks for the interest. If you want some insights I'm open for discussion. I have learned quite a few things with the big block fox body swap.

For example,
I am using the motor plates to set the motor back but this is a PITA to mount accessories with. There are some good side mounts out there now.

Also I think I would have gone with a C4 or a Toploader if I had to do it again.

The funny thing to me is it is easier to change spark plugs on the big block than it is on my other car which is a 5.0. Also the price difference between big block and small block is almost nill now.

Later,

Greg

Great

Ive sen a few of these fox chassis stangs with 429/460's and they just seem to cant help but go fast. One guy put a junkyard 460 long block with a mild hyd cam, dual plane intake and stock exhaust manifolds in a 87 hatchback and it ran 11.60's I seen this car in person...it was a a real budget beater with a 9 inch that was too wide and the slix stuck out way to far. You know...those guys that can throw ANYTHING together with basicly free "throw away" stuff and make it work Ive also seen a 86 hatchback with a 514 crate engine(king demon carb and 2 1/8 in long tubes) had a glide with a "tall" 1.76 1st gear and 3.73 gears(set up for a small n2o shot). It went 10.40's at 134 mph 1st time out on the motor .
Im liking the looks of the standard(side) motor mount install the with the K member spacers.

Yeah,

That guy Bob who makes the K-member spacers had a pretty sweet set of side mounts he may market that may be the way to go.
