Weekend racing, new q-mile times
Hi,
We had this FOMOCO Drag & Track happening last weekend, had a lots of fun...the knees are still shaking. Ended up doing some off-road too!
Ran my -69 mustang 14.3 & 102mph with 3.5 gears, detroit locker, C4 stock converter, original iron intake & 650 vac holley. The heads are ported, comp 280H & hedman elite long tubes. I shifted at 5000.
I was very happy with the results, traction was very limited and I still have stealth & 750 demon waiting to be installed. Hoping for 13's next summer.
A friend with very similar -69 mustang combo, except rpm intake & 3.91 gears ran 13.3 with slicks, shifting bit over 6000. His times with radials were very similar to mine.
On Sunday we went to track for some high speed driving. It was raining and the track was very slippery. It was a blast, I could keep up with blown late models and car worked flawlessly. I went on throttle bit too early on one easy low speed corner and ended up spinning and flying azz forward 40 feet over safety zone and hitting a soft mud bank.
I couldn't believe I didn't get any scratches myself or to the car. Talk about lucky bstad? No stones lying around in that place...I was even able to drive the car back to the track through the soft mud.
I drove the car this morning to the yearly inspection. The inspector was a bit startled when I went under the car with him to pick the remaining weeds from the bottom.
I think I'm pretty much ready for some relaxing family life and modding the car for next summer.
Cheers,
Janne
