Some people have complained of noisy Richmonds but I think they had a bad run a year or so ago. Or may be they just werent set up right. I have Richmond 3:89's in my 9" and I have no probs.

I"ve run 4.56's, 4.10s, and now 3.89s. Noisey?..hell, I dont know. Have I broken any of them?......No. They do their job.
Granted, it's in a race only vehicle, but I also do remember running some 3.73's and 4.10s in my previous cars, that were all Richmonds, and they were perfect too. (although I did grenade a set of 4.10s in that 12 bolt setup when the pinion crush sleeve kinda got loose, and all sorts of bad stuff happens then).......

I ran a set of 3.55's in an 8". They worked fine. A little whiny, but not that bad.

Has anyone had any luck with Precision Gear?

Why are the Ford Motorsport 3.70 and 3.89 gears so expensive. They cost around $400 compared to Richmond's $189. Any good reason on why 3.73's could not be installed in a '70 Mustang? Ford Motorsports 9" 3.73's cost about half of what the 3.70's and 3.89's do.

MAE "McCanes Automotive Enterprises" (sets up shop at the big Columbus swap meet) has great deals on Motive Gear rear end kits.

For $239, they offer a MASTER KIT that included the R&P, all four Timkin bearings, spacers to set pinion depth, gear marking coumpond, seals, o-ring, gasket, crush sleeve, loc-tite, ring gear bolts, etc. It comes with EVERYTHING needed to swap a ring and pinion. The kit uses a Motive Gear R&P, which seems to have gained a LOT of popularity lately. To upgrade to a solid pinion spacer is an extra $10. To upgrade the pinion bearings to those used with the Daytona pinion support is an extra $14. And to upgrade to the longer Trac-Loc R&P bolts is a few more bucks.

I purchased a kit recently, and had great luck with it. When I had questions, he was easily reached on both the phone AND email. The service was FIRST RATE.

They offer the following ratios at this price... 3.25-3.50-3.70-3.89-4.11-4.56-4.86

They also offer Trac-Loc clutches at a good price. It comes with all the fibers, steels, and the combo plate. Mine were stamped "Kevlar, made in USA" The price was only $43.99 for the set.

I HIGHLY reccommend MAE. You are supposed to be able to purchase items from their website, but you'd probably have better luck on the phone. (the site still needs to be streamlined a bit)

Here's the R&P master kit
