Limit on Stock Fuel System

Need a little help -

Here is what I have:
89 LX 5.0 -
Mods -
Block bored to 306 - B303 Cam - Heads were milled 10 over during overhaul - Cobra Intake - BBK Headers - 73 mm Mass Air Meter - SuperChip - H - Pipe - Flowmaters - Pulleys - 3.73 REar End ---

The Fuel Pump is a stock replacement - Injectors are Stock.

This is not my only car, however, I still consider it a daily driver. - ( I probably drive it 3-4 times a week avg.)

My question is - If I port the heads or buy aftermarket heads, will I have to upgrade the fuel system - Pump, Injectors..etc... - or will I be ok? - or do I just need a pump and/or pressure regulator. - I would like to por tthe heads but if I need to make several other mods, I would like to know. - I have asked friends and several mechanics and received answers from NO - to yes, I need new injectors, pump, regulator --- and everything in between tthe two answers. - - Any input would be great. - I am not our to the track every week and I really like the way the car runs now however, the valve guides are leaky and while I had the heads off, I figured, why not port them a little? - ( Not myself ) -- Thanks, Sam

You should get an adjusable FP regulator and go to a 190L fuel pump. You may get away with the stock 19# injectors but you will be right at the ragged edge. THe prob is once you got to bigger injectors you need to alter the stock computer program. If that 73 mm mass air meter is the C&L you can run the air tube for 24# injectors with the stock puter program.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

I called Pro-M and they said I could get my air meter recalibrated if I go to 24 lbs Injectors. - - I was really hoping for now, I could get away with doing some minor pocket porting too just get the stock heads to flow better for now. - I need to take them off anyway to do work on the valve guides. - I shouldn't need any fule mods for minor porting should I?

You would get better performance from what you have if you used an AFPR cause you might be a little lean as it is now.
