QA1 coilover question

I have a quick question maybe someone knows the answer to...

Does the QA1 coilover kit work with stock struts or do you HAVE to use QA1 struts?

Thanks!
Mark

I believe you have to use their struts because the stock struts dont have coil over threads so you wouldnt be able to screw the coil over kit on.

QA1 coilover question

Kenny
Thanks for the response. I have been getting conflicting information about the QA1 coilover kit. In the Summit catalog, they say the kit works 'with stock struts'. On the QA1 website, they vaguely mention that the kit works 'with QA1 struts', but it doesn't say ONLY AQ1 struts...nor does it say QA1 OR stock struts either.

Does anyone out there actually HAVE AQ1 coilovers on stock struts??

Thanks
Mark

QA1 coilover question

I kinda thought if you purchased a coil over kit, that it went over any kind of strut. (unless the strut was made for a specific coil over setup itself).
I"m running lakewood 70/30s with Steeda coil over kit. Hal 150 pound springs. I had to do a little 'cutomizing', (i.e. grinding), to get the coil over kit pieces to go over the 'working end' of the strut, (but was forewarned about that from Holcomb, and in the instructions).
No biggie. I know for a fact that you could run a stock strut with the steeda kit. (well, almost for a fact).

I kinda hope the kit does work with my stock struts. If not, it'll be going back to Summit and I'll be ordering a kit that *does* work with my stock struts!

QA1 coilover question

The coil over conversion kit works only with the HAL struts since they have the threads machined on the strut body.

You need a kit similar to this, it's a Granatelli kit but there are others that are similar. GRN-GMCO7998ST

QA1 coilover question

forgive my ignorance here, but what is the real advantage of using coil-overs on a FOX car as compared to the factory setup?

Less(unsprung) weight and better spring geometry. Allows the use of a softer spring that will actually provide better handling, ie; a stiff road race spring can be replaced with a softer coilover spring and have the same handling(or better) and have near OEM ride quality..

Lighter weight and adjustable ride height.
Easy to change the spring rate.
