Cam...worth the $$$ ?

I'm seriously considering getting a cam, probably the Comp Xtreme Energy 262. And I will most likely pay for it to be installed, prices are:
cam intall (includes carb tune and timing adjustments): $250-$350
To degree the cam: $50 an hour
My first question is, about how much hp will this put me too? And second, Is this a reasonable price?
Is it worth it?

Seems like a lot of money to me. Do you have the other components to go with it? I.E. intake, headers...

Anybody know of a good site with pics and accurate info showing a cam change...I might do it myself if it doesn't seem too hard.

I'm using the same setup i currently have, just changing cam, lifters, and mabye valve springs.

I cant believe the cam install doesn't include a degree check....what a crock! That would be like installing new rear gears and charging extra to put the pinion at the correct depth.

If you can pull the intake, valve covers and rockers, remove the timing cover and radiator you can do it your self. With the money you save you can even buy yourself a summit racing degree wheel and maybe even a new converter[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_tup.gif[/img]
