Body Question: body filler for non-metal parts???

I'm removing the trim that runs down the center of my hood. Along with that, there's a small piece that bolts down on the front "clip" (I don't know what else to call the piece that holds the grill, headlights, and turn signals). This short piece holds the hood ornament and is basically the front of the hood trim. You guys get the picture. Anyhow, I will weld, grind, fill the holes in the hood, it's metal and I can handle that part. However, the front clip on my car is made from some sort of plastic composite crap. How do I fill holes in it? There's two small 3/16 holes and one with a diameter of about 1/2". Any tips are appreciated. I just want to make sure that whatever I fill the holes with will last! It's right there in the center of my hood and it will get tested by the elements. Thanks guys!

Can't recall if that piece is flexible or not on your year. I'm no body expert, but on rigid parts I've used 2 part epoxy then filled remaining pinholes with body glaze prior to priming. If possible you can back it up with a piece of the same material under the hole to keep the epoxy fill as thin as possible.
If it's flexible there's a body filler now for parts like bumper covers that is somewhat flexible too. 3M has a wide variety of products for this and you can find them at a lot of auto body supply stores.
Good luck.

The front headers are made essentially of fibreglass. You could enlarge the hole in a conical shape and use a product call fibre-fill which is a bondo that has small strands of fibreglass in it. This fills the hole and resists cracking. You leave the fibre-fill slightly below the surface height of the header and fill in the smaller depression with real "bondo" filler. Prime putty and sand and paint. Stu
