tremec 3550???

anybody been through installing a tremec 3550 in a 65 stang i know the bellhouising will have to be changed but it looks to me like the trans mount will have to move back and down also(not sure how that's gonna happen w/out new member)it also looks like the t-5 barely fits and with the larger body of the tremec i just don't know what to expect to run into any info/pics would be much appreciated

tremec 3550???

The 3550/TKO will not fit into the 65-66 without some pretty major modifications to the transmission tunnel. They will fit into 67-later mustangs because of the larger tunnel which is meant for larger C6 and FMX transmissions. Dark horse performance does have conversion kits that fit very nice. I used their parts with my '68/TKO. they are very helpful if you have any questions.

tremec 3550???

RIGHT now my 65 con'v. is in the shop for shock tunnel notching and raising the tunnel to clear a tko. The tko and the 3550 are the same shell.I have had a 3550 in my 65'fastback,the angle was wrong.Driveline problems here and there. It really is no big deal to raise the tunnel.

tremec 3550???

thanks guys i guess its time to make the decision whether to spend the extra to install the tremec or just bullet proof a t-5 which seems to fit with no real issues.
