One of our mudracing sanctions changed there rules to NO BIG BLOCKS. they put a 377ci limit on the class. Now they are saying the 351M is not legal because Ford says they are a big block. I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks Mac

They are not. A big block is a FE or 385 series engine. This is a 335 series engine. They need to just put a cap on the size, too much controversy. Maybe they just want to ban canted valve engines.

They did the same thing here, also stating that the M engine was a big block. Wrong! They also used the 377 limit after they found out that the M's were small-blocks so people would quit using 400s. The clevelands rule the class!

Last I heard they were going to revise it again which would remove all splayed-valve heads and use an inline-valve head rule.

Ford has never classified the 351M/400 as a big block. As an aside a Chevy 400 has always been called a small block.

BTW would a CLevor be legal.

Fight it! Remind them 351M/400 has the same bore spacing as all small block Fords!

You are up against it.
IITC the 400 and 351m have the BB bell housing bolt pattern so they can make a valid point. On the plus side, you can still use a 351c since it has the small block bolt pattern, get the benefit of the canted valves and stroke it out to exactly 377 cubes
