Automatic to Manual swap

Hey everyone. I need a little advice about doing an auto to manual tranny swap. I presently have the original automatic that came in my '68 Mustang, and want to put in a manual.....Most specifically a Tremec T56. Does anyone know about clearance issues for the housing? How about options for the interior? I know that the center console will need some work, or removal. Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

http://www.themustangshop.com/

They have a T5 swap outlined. I'm not sure of the Tremec's dimensions but they can't be very far from a T5 Stu

The T-56 is a pretty big transmission. The recommended way to install it is to cut & raise the transmission tunnel 1". This is true even in the larger '67 & '68's.

Dark Horse Performance sells kits that have the option to use a lower mounting transmission cross-member to avoid having to cut the tunnel. But, I've been told by others that you really don't want to pursue that method. Best to mount it up where it's supposed to be.

Also check out www.moderndriveline.com.

Bruce does all sorts of T-5 swap stuff, plus I think he can do the T-56. Check out his clutch cable. It's an excellent, simple design.
