Direct comparison of 351W Victor Jr vs. Super Victor intake?
I am looking for a direct comparison of the Vr Jr and a Super Victor head to head on a 351W or stroker. How much power is it worth and how much it effected the actual rpm range and power. Before and after dyno results?
Thanks,
KENT

I'd like to know myself! Scott @ cam research recommended that I use a super victor on my 357w but so far I've been hesitant. If I could borrow one, I'd post the results.

I'd like to know myself. My new combo may need one. I wish Edelbrock would offer one with a 4500 flange. Plenty of people would use it.

Direct comparison of 351W Victor Jr vs. Super Victor intake?
While not a dyno comparison, a good friend of mine replaced a Vic Jr. with the Super Victor. He saw very little or no change. The small change we saw could have been due to weather conditions. Perhaps .04-.05 faster in the 1/8 mile at best. This was in is track championship bracket car.
The engine is a 372 Windsor, 4.00 std bore two bolt sportsman block, 3.70 stroke crank. Ported Victor Jr heads, .650 roller 275@ .050. 13.5:1 compression, pro worked 750 dp, MSD ignition. Runs all motor only. It's in a ladder bar/ MII style A arm Alston chassis 72 Maverick. 2950 lbs w driver, Powerglide, 13X32 slicks, 5.13 gear (races 1/8 mile only). Launch at 4200, shift at 7000-7100
The car ran high 6.30's at 105 before with the Vic jr. Running with the Super Vic now it runs mid 6.30's, still at 105. 60's went unchanged at 1.31-1.32
The Super Vic might be of some worth if you've got an engine capable of turning 8000 on the shifts, but otherwise I would spend the money elsewhere.
Later,
David Cole

Direct comparison of 351W Victor Jr vs. Super Victor intake?
All I can add to this gig is what I was told by both Edelbrock, and various engine builders/dyno operators.
A stock bore, or up to 400 cubes, can utilize a victor jr. (again, very basic setup). Any high winding/good breathed on, 400+ cuber should utilize the super vic.
I had a vic jr. when I dyno'd my first 418 attempt, it made 572 hp. Slapped on a super vic, and the HP never went below 600hp..........(been a while, but that's what I remember of it).

Steve, have you ever tried a Dominator on your car?

Nope. Talked to EVERYONE, and only one place said that I"d pick up ANY amount of torque/hp was that tcp/tci/whatever carb place.
I thought about it, but again, if it isn't GUARANTEED to give me satisfaction, I"ll stick with old reliable Biggs stage 5 950...............
(had a dominator on previous brand x for a while. NOthing neater than tossing the 4 tennis balls in it after a run, while dorking around in the pits......

Direct comparison of 351W Victor Jr vs. Super Victor intake?
I e-mailed Terry Parker a couple years ago after seeing the beautiful job he did on the Funnelweb for the 351C asking him if he would consider making a Dominator flange 351W intake and he said there was not enough interest in that. That was right after the Super Victor came out. I have been running Dominators exclusively since the mid 90s and I love the quicker 60ft times and MPH it gave me. I borrowed many many trick custom 4150 carbs from other people at the track and tried them(again in the mid and late 90s) and never did use one that came within a tenth of my old 9375 Dominator. The 4150s all had crisper response and clean part throttle and less mushy part throttle reponse but the Dominator felt slower yet on the track my 60ft times were .05-.10 quicker depending which 4150 I was trying at the time and MPH consistently2-3mph higher. .15-.20 tenths quicker in the quarter compared to the best 4150s I borrowed. That was also with a stock stroke 351W and a tightish 4000 stall(4500 on the bottle) shifting at 7800rpm(7500 on the bottle), 12:1 compression, 260/270 at .050" solid roller 108LSA/108ICL with .577/.688" lift. I never tried nitrous while using a 4150 carb because my Big Shot plate was for a dominator. This was back when I ran 10.40s at 127 off the bottle and 9.50s at 143mph on da juice(175 horse shot using KB cast pistons). I believe who ever comes out with a Dominator flange 351W intake first will sell a ton of them. I hate porting out these damn adapters and opening up the plenums to help reduce the 4150 flange bottle neck. I never tried a different Dominator though so I have no idea what a different model Dominator would run like but the 9375 was perfect for me. It was very rich at part throttle though(intermediate circuit). The Vr Jr intake was HEAVILY hogged out as were the Winsor Sr iron heads.
I now have a new combo(very mismatched) that is 395 cubes and more compression, less cam, 5500 stall(no nitrous), more gear, bigger headers and exhaust, and another Vr Jr intake, Windsor Sr iron heads, 13.5:1 compression, and KB cast pistons. I need a lot more top end power for this loose converter(wasting a lot of big low end torque) so a bigger cam and Super Victor intake is what I'm planning on now and a set of 215/58cc Pro Topline heads heavily ported.

Direct comparison of 351W Victor Jr vs. Super Victor intake?
I would like to get rid of my Dominator and adapter if I caould be guaranteed a special 4150 carb would ET better than my 9375 Dominators. Like a 1040cfm 4150 or so and then I could try a 2" Super Sucker carb spacer. There is a world of difference in the port size and plenum size between the Vr Jr and the Super Victor.

I'm using a Bigs 950 hp and a 1 in. Super Sucker on a ported Victor JR.
I ran this on the 375W.
The new combo is a 402W.
about the same as Steve's 418W but i'm running a solid roller. The comp. will be 12.6.
