The engine was turning about 6600, I felt a serious vibration at the far end of the track. I immediately put the trans in neutral and turned off the ignition. As the motor was winding down to around 3000, I looked at the oil pressure gauge (read 0) then POW and a big cloud of oil was trailing me.
Nope, no warning at all. The vibration was crankshaft being out of balance since the rod was no longer attatched. It wasn't the rod the took out the bottom end...it was part of the cap that jammed in between the #4 & #8 rod. The rest is history.
Sure was fun pulling that thing down from 120+ with oil on the back tires! Reminded me of the old 3-wheeler ice racing days.
